For those just starting off and feeling overwhelmed– I would see these huge blocks of text in hiragana and would struggle to separate the words from one another, not entirely sure what was a particle or a part of a word.
Learning kanji relieves this problem immensely. It doesn’t solve everything, but once the Genki textbook switches over to teaching kanji in Lesson 3, I had a eureka (maybe なるほど, if I’m using that correctly?) moment.
And it’s certainly not a hot take or anything, but Remembering the Kanji is also a huge help for some people (myself included).
Keep at it! 頑張って!

yeah kanji makes parsing texts easier (though there are times it can still be tricky)
old NES games which can’t have kanji, instead just add a bunch of spaces in-between words, so then it’s easy to parse as well
The mixture of scripts is very helpful, and you can see why the lack of any formal word boundaries (spaces) is not really a problem [when all three scripts are used](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r7a8OjvViwE).
Do people really need motivation to learn kanji? That’s one of the coolest things about Japanese
