Itinerary Question

Quick itinerary question. We have a full itinerary planned and can share that later, but I just want to know if it is actually feasible to just stay in Kyoto the whole time as opposed to traveling around, changing hotels, and hauling luggage around everywhere?

Day 1 is landing in Narita
Day2 and 3 will be spend at Ryokan in Hakone

Day 4: 11/24 (Hakone → Kyoto)
– staying at Gion Misen Furumonzen

Day 5: 11/25 (Kyoto)
– explore Kyoto

Day 6: 11/26 (Kyoto→ Osaka → Kobe → Kyoto)
– universal studios
– dinner in Kobe
– night life in Kyoto

Day 7: 11/27 (Kyoto→ Osaka → Nara → Kyoto)
– aquarium in Osaka
– Nara Activities
– explore hangout in Kyoto for the night

Day 8: 11/28 (Kyoto→ Hiroshima)
– explore Hiroshima
– don’t check out of Kyoto hotel, leave luggage and check into cheap hotel in Hiroshima.

Day 9: 11/29 (Hiroshima → Kyoto)
– Okunoshima island (rabbit island)

Day 10: 11/30 (Kyoto → Kawaguchiko/Mt. Fuji)
– check out of Kyoto Hotel and head to Kawaguchiko in morning.

Day 11-13 we will spend in Tokyo

This seems possible, but just based on travel times on Google Maps. We feel the more we have to pack up, check in and out of hotels, and haul luggage around…the more likely it will be that something will go wrong along the way.

Let me know if all this back and forth business is just silly.

  1. I mean to get your money’s worth out of universal studios it’s really a full day thing because of the lines, so doing that and then getting to Kobe and back to Kyoto might be a bit exhausting. But if you’re prepared for that fair enough!

  2. Kyoto to Osaka, Osaka to Kobe, Kobe to Kyoto, Osaka, Nara, Nara to Kyoto. All seem to be ~1hr to 1hr 15 minutes from each other. Does that seem accurate? Because that didnt seem too bad to us.

But we just don’t know if we’re way off base. And there’s a much clearer pathway

  3. Are you just going to bunny island for a day trip or staying overnight? The trains don’t run as frequently there as in Tokyo. I had to wait up to an hour for the train I needed, from Hiroshima to Bunny Island and then on to Kyoto, for example. The ferry to the actual island leaves about twice an hour. This time can add up considerably and make for a long day.
