I’m an American citizen and I want to start investing. I’m a complete beginner and I don’t know how to begin while living in Japan. If anyone has any experience I’d appreciate any advice. If there is a reliable app I could use to invest and manage my trades I’d be very interested to learn about it. Thanks everyone!

Can you open a brokerage account in the US? Tax-wise, US citizen investing in foreign countries is like oil and water, actually no more like methyl-isocyanate and water.
I use Interactive Brokers, they have a Japan branch. Deposit yen to my trading account via SMBC account and then convert to USD and can trade on US markets.
