Yes, you need to update them or they will freeze your account.

Update the bank and go to city office if your MY number card has an expiration date on it. I have never had my account frozen but I got a letter requesting updated info.
You can update it online. No need to go to the physical bank.
Yes and it takes like an hour and a half at a non-busy post office to do it. Or at least it did in my case.
