My kid really like how doraemon sleep in his closet. Does anyone (or pet) really sleep in such place in real life? Is it practical ? Or can I do anything to make it practical if I want to make her one in her bedroom?
OMG this is so cute, I grew up watching Doraemon and those ‘closets’ are a part of traditional Japanese homes to store the futon, so it was kind of like a bunk bed in our minds, my siblings and cousins would play in them ALL THE TIME 😭 It was a favorite ‘quiet’ space for me when I wanted to just get away, I think it’s so sweet that you want to make your daughter one in her room ❤️ I know a lot of kids are scared to be in dark, confined spaces but Doraemon made me not scared 😭
Those sorts of closets are extremely common in Japan. I don’t think it’s normal for people to sleep in them, but there’s nothing stopping you either – they’re pretty large.
My baby’s diaper change is in the closet! It’s huge, no reason why you can’t make a little comfy cave.
not sure if this is a troll or not but okay
Lum sleeps in Ataru’s closet in “Urusei Yatsura”. The 10 year old boy sleeps in a close in “Shoplifting family”.
It’s a fun thing to do as a kid but not very practical. The small size of the space makes temperature and moisture control very difficult even if you bring in a fan or heater. The ceiling within also tend to be of lower quality and if you live in an apartment you’d be bothered by all the sound coming from other rooms and the interior of the building. Plus more often than not they are used for their intended purpose, meaning it would be full of stuff
When I moved to my new house I slept one night in the closet because I had to be here in the early morning to wait for the movers to bring my furniture and boxes from the old apartment.
I don’t recommend it. It was very uncomfortable, and closing the door made the space inside the closet very oppressive, even in early Winter.
A few days later I slept there again, that time using a couple of decent camping mats for padding. It wasn’t a nice experience either.
If your kid wants to try it then I would allow her to do it once, just so she can experience it. But don’t do it as a permanent bed. It’s neither comfortable nor practical.

I mean, my parents‘ cat LOVES sleeping in the closet. Must be a cat thing.
