Credit card to join a Gym

Hey guys, let me give you a quick context.

I’m looking for a gym to join and I found this BlueFit24 (I need it to be 24 hours). They asked me for a credit card to be able to sign up for the membership (my card is a debit card). The guy at the gym told me that if I didn’t have one, I could go to Kinshicho and they could make one for me there. (That’s all I could understand, I barely speak the language).

Do you know what he meant by going to Kinshicho? Is there any entity there that allows you to get a credit card? NOTE: I have a long-term stay visa in the country

Edit: I’m sure he didn’t refer to another store in the same chain of the gym

  1. Lol. Maybe kinshicho marui for an epos? Other than that it would be useful if you actually got him to write the instructions.

  2. Below is the English translation from their website:

    Q. Can I join without a credit card?

    A. *The Shinonome store only accepts credit cards for enrollment.

If you wish to enroll by bank transfer, please pay the initial fee required at the time of enrollment in cash at the desired registration store, and the monthly membership fee from the 4th month will be withdrawn from your bank account by bank transfer. becomes.
*If you do not have a credit card, we will deduct an initial account transfer fee of 2,750 yen (including tax) and a monthly account transfer fee of 550 yen (including tax).

Enrollment procedures are available during staff hours.
    * Since reservations are required in advance, please contact us using the inquiry form with 2-3 candidates for the store you wish to join and the date and time you can visit.

What to bring at the time of enrollment
â‘  Cash card or passbook of the account you wish to withdraw
â‘¡ Account seal (please check in advance and bring it)
â‘¢ Official identification (driver’s license etc.)
â‘£Initial cost for enrollment (security card issuance fee, monthly membership fee for 3 months, bank transfer initial cost)

Maybe you went to Shinonome store, if that’s the case then enroll with their any other branch and use Shinonome gym.

    Good luck!

  3. That’s… weird. I know they don´t usually accept foreigner debit/credit cards. I don´t know of any gym around here that won’t take a debit card from a japanese bank.

  4. Anytime Fitness automatically drafts my bank account. I think they are doing credit cards now, but I’ve never switched.

  5. If you want to get a credit card then the two options I would suggest are either a Rakuten credit card or an Amazon credit card, Rakuten’s site was in Japanese for me, but I’m positive the Amazon credit card application section was in English as that’s what I have the site set to.
I’ve never heard of anyone being rejected for these credit cards.
If you do online shopping mostly via Amazon then that is probably your best option, you’ll earn Amazon points on purchases and also extra points when using it via Amazon for purchases.

  6. Gyms are like loan sharks. When you have a delinquency, they even call your workplace instead of your personal phone to shame you. Thats why most only accept cards now.
