In Tokyo waiting for a flight. GF informed that I’ve received the postcard to pick up my new visa.

So.
Handed in my visa papers like 2 weeks ago. Usually it has taken at least a month.
This time, super fast. Like 9 working days. Never had that happen before…. Although, this time it was in Osaka.

Problem
I’m currently waiting to board a flight to my home country.

I’m assuming I have to call immigration and tell them to hold my visa for longer than 2nd of may (pick up window stated on the postcard).

Now, since this is Japan, anything else I need to be aware of? Or anyone else been in the same predicament and had any problems?

Thank you!

P.s. I checked my mailbox today before I left. So yes, I check my mail regularly

I left my home early morning and found visa renewal postcard in my mail box. I already arranged everything like hotel reservation or flight ticket for a one week. So, I couldn’t go to immirgration center.

I kept postcard, my applicaiton receipt and expired residence card all together while my Fukoka trip. Only a hotel asked me my zairyu card. They were so surprised when they see an expired zairyu card. (I was appliled to extension by post while corona period. So, I did’nt have stamp on back side of my zairyu card) I showed them postcard and they said OK.

So, you will leave country. If you visa still valid I think you can entry to Japan without problem. If your visa will be expired during your abroad trip, I don’t know what will be happen. May be, if your GF send a photo of postcard, and you can show to immfirgration officer at the airport.
