University deadlines in Japan

Please hear my story first.

I’m Mongolian and I’m already admitted to universities in the US. But a family friend in the US has died from mugging just a week ago and it’s suspected to be a hate crime.

Now my family suddenly don’t want me to live in the US and asked me to consider universities in Asia, where I’m less likely to experience hate crime and easier to travel back to Mongolia in case of emergency, since its closer n all.

But most of the university deadlines are over. I have to reply back to my offers in May but I have to consider universities in Japan.

Are there any universities which are still open to international students?

  1. There is a university in Japan called Temple University Japan campus that has a fall semester

Edit: I give a fact and people are pissed, fuck Reddit.

  2. I’m sorry about what happened and I understand your family’s feelings, and it’s probably an unpopular opinion but I wouldn’t give up so easily. I’m not from the US but I truly believe that it really depends on where you’ll live in America, not all places are the same and there are vast differences depending on where you’ll end up living, even in the same city. Many, MANY students from all around the world wish they’d be in your shoes. And some universities have also already accepted you as well, that’s actually great. Depending on your degree and where you’d like to live, a degree from a US university might be the better choice (especially if it’s Computer Science or something similar, unless you’re applying for ToDai).

If you’ve already made up your mind, I think Sophia University might be a good choice.

  3. Australia is safer than America. Maybe a higher cost of living though. Very well reputed universities. Curtin Perth has done well for me. 👍🏻 also I can see you’re rushing to leave ASAP, but looking for the best program is better than shipping out as quickly as you can.

  4. Hey there , Fellow Mongolian here. As a person who has been in Japan and US for few months, got some tips to give ya. First of all, US is not as safe as Japan. But on the other hand , Japanese are not sociable as Americans. Japanese are more like inside-person. Gotta let you know that their culture and streets and foods are way different than the US. Do you think u could adapt in a environment surrounded by strict rules and far eastern culture ? If you do go for it. Since u got applied to US universities i bet u will study in English in japan. Most of the national universities offering english program. Most Japanese university terms starts at April, October. I think most of the October term programs deadlines is closed or due to closed. Whole admission process will take around 3-5 months . BTW, Private univeristy tuition is much higher.
