  1. I swear, does nothing ever happen in Japan these days? Think the most interesting news in the last 5 years was former PM Abe’s assassination…

  2. Wish they would pay their artist aNd writers(not just in manga) more.

Still crazy to me that most artist choose a contract with no royalties from some of their merchandises

  3. it won’t because manga isn’t a big enough industry, especially overseas. but at least they’re backing something that wouldn’t *loose* money.

  4. This could mean lots more cookie-cutter translations of phrases like 許さない! and そんな!

  5. I’ll tell you exactly how this genius idea went down:

*deep in the hall of the diet a special session has been convened*

Chairman: *sits with eyes closed, hands clasped together with both index fingers pressed against his lips*

Chairs assistant (female, conventionally feminine and attractive, slight buriko mannerisms): “politician sama, the chairman has convened the special committee into financial affairs for regrowth to get done new directions, real blue skies thinking for this one please? Douzo yoroshiku”

Politician 1: “invest in new technology for 10 years while encouraging an influx of high expertise with attractive packages to kick start a new sector?”

Group: *much sucking of teeth* “etto, sugoi kedo muzukashiiiiiii desuuneeeee….”

Politician 2: “ettooo, manga ha douuuu?”

Group: “ohhhhh suuugooiiiii, great, very Cool Japan. Yoshuuuuuu let’s goooooo”
