I was just curious if there is something like that. Some community forum in Japanese where people have threads for their hometown, hobbies, etc. Thanks!
I don’t think discussion forums like this are popular in Japan. Most of the Japanese people I know mainly use Line and Instagram.
Twitter
I think there is a way to ask questions and stuff on yahoo? My bf sometimes uses that.
I feel like the closest thing to that would be twitter
5ch but in general I guess it is yahoo知恵袋
まちbbs for neighborhood topics
nanj
2ch/5ch, Yahoo知恵袋, Yahooニュース, and Twitter.
GirlsChannel operates on the whole upvote system like Reddit but it’s supposed to be only for women. Probably more than half of the users are men LARPing as women though.
Yahoo! Groups
and fax.
爆砕 bakusai
R/ low level aware has quite a bit of Japanese posts in it, which to me has always been kinda weird.
2ch, without a doubt
5ch, Twitter, 2ch, Yahoo in that order
Leddito
The app is called !common”.
We all use an Excel spreadsheet shared over an open Windows network.
If you want to participate, here’s the link:

Each sheet is a sub. Please always use the same username, don’t forget to fill out all the mandatory columns (marked in red), and don’t unhide any columns, our security depends on it.
Or if you want to know what social media is popular in Japan, I’d say Twitter and Instagram as Japanese.
I came to Reddit because I couldn’t find any thread or social media where left leaning people exist. In general, “ニュース速報” type of thing is left leaning. But, other then that it’s fill with not just a right wing but full on racist, sexist, fascist, historical revisionist, and nationalists. I feel sick every time I read a comment section from Yahoo News it’s just disgusting
I think the mobile app Yay! (former Lobi) is quite similar to Reddit.
Not sure about overseas, but if you’re using Line in Japan, the Open Chat feature has a range of categories that Japanese people join, discuss, and help each other with.

I think “5ちゃんねる (5 channel)” is most similar to it.
