What do Japanese universities think about dyed hair?

Hi! I got accepted into a University three days ago and they just send me some documents I have to fill out and stuff. One of the documents is to take a photo for identification during my stay there and ID card. Now, I dyed my hair blue a month ago and I’m nervous that they are going to say something about my hair being that color when I submit the photo.
So, my question is do universities there care about hair color and should I worry?

  1. Japanese universities don’t care. This is usually the period where young Japanese people get to cut loose so you’ll see quite a few people with dyed hair.

  2. It’s fine. For many Japanese people college is the one time in their lives where they’re free to express themselves, unbound by strict school rules and not yet subject to strict company policies.

But yeah enjoy the small things when we are still young 🙂

  4. Japanese *universities* will not care about your hair color in the slightest.

Japanese *employers*, however, absolutely ***will*** care. Are you planning on getting a part-time job while you’re in school? Most students work in kombinis or other retail establishments, and you’re not going to get one of those jobs with blue hair.

  5. No one at your university will care. If you want to truly fit in, then dye it that bright pink-blonde that all the girls seem to be sporting these days…
