gay sauna osaka

Hey guys! I’m planning to visit the gay sauna in Osaka called Kokouokan and I was wondering if anyone could give me some recommendations. I might potentially stay the night, do you think it’s a good idea?

I know the prices change according to one’s age (I’m 21 so it’s okay) but how is it in general? The atmosphere and so on…

Thank you !

  1. What’s the difference between a gay sauna and regular sauna anyways? It’s still same sex in the sauna room

  2. Why don’t you just open up grindr before hand and meet whoever at the bath house? Lol

Edit: So they are indeed a place for casual encounters, thanks for the answers above and below!

Edit: Changed some words and spellings

  4. I’ve been to that sauna last year. As with most gay bathhouses in Japan it’s mostly about a quick fuck in one of the dark rooms – bathing (or sitting in a sauna) is not their main business. I’m not sure if they have private rooms for rent but I wouldn’t want to sleep on one of their “public” mattresses unless you’re ok with rolling in someone else’s cum or being groped by strangers. Or being woke up at 4 am for “cleaning”. It’s fun if you’re into that sort of thing though.

Edit: I didn’t realize that straight ppl don’t have a clue what’s going on in gay bathhouses. So for everyone who hasn’t been in one: it’s basically an all male whorehouse where everyone is both a customer and an employee but the only time money changes hands is when you pay to get in. Once you’re there, you leave your clothes in a locker, wrap yourself in a towel, bathe in a regular sento or take a shower and then walk around looking for guys who you want to have sex with. Japan barely uses Grindr, they have their own app called 9Monsters but in a bathhouse you don’t need to speak Japanese to hookup – better, you don’t need to speak at all 😉

  5. It is a wonderful place where you can be the sexual being you’ve always wanted to be. Seven floors, hundreds of guys, you can have a great time.

Only go on weekends. That’s when it’s busy. Weekdays are DEAD DEAD DEAD.

As the other person said, there is very little sauna with water BUT there is tons of sex. You can hook up in the showers but everyone else is doing it everywhere else.

Plan to stay all night. Take condoms and lube in case you can’t find any in there. Have a lot of fun.

Truly I have some GREAT memories in that place. I actually even met a guy who lived in Seoul like I did – we met when we came back to Seoul and dated for almost two years before he moved back to the UK

  6. I’m assuming you mean Hokuoukan, as that’s the only gay sauna in Osaka I know of that gives discounts to people under 40. It looks like most of your questions have already been answered, but I can confirm the cost. As you’re under 25, it will cost you 1200 yen for day use (4am to 8pm) and 1700 for overnight use (5pm to 12pm the following day). You will have to pay using a ticket machine. Make sure you press the button for the correct age range, otherwise you will be overcharged. You will need to show them ID when you hand over your ticket and check-in. They will also show you the 4 digit pin number to access the area for under-40’s only. You can go back to and ask for it again if you forget. They have an English website if you have any other questions.

When are you planning on going? If you’re in Osaka now, I wouldn’t recommend going until the number of covid19 infections in Osaka settles down. They’ve had around 1000 new cases in the last week, and a gay sauna is probably a fairly high risk place, as I couldn’t imagine anyone wearing a mask or doing social distancing once they get inside.
