I passed my large motorcycle license exam on my second try!
Mainly just stayed home. Did some cleaning and laundry, played Switch, went to the clinic Saturday morning. That’s basically it.
Still taking walks with a mask because if I don’t, I’m breathing in swarms of flies. Luckily my kid seems too short to get hit by them (or he doesn’t care). Nice azaleas now though!
closed my cousin’s apartment over the weekend. I’m so ready to be done with this mess. Still have a few things to close out for her, but the apartment was the biggest thing. Still sorting out my place from all her things that I brought here
Made a trip out of it and stumbled across a neat shio ramen shop near Nipponbashi (だしと小麦の可能性 or だしかの) that served their [shio ramen with italian style accoutrements](https://i.imgur.com/LODonWG.jpg). It’s a bit gimmicky, but I definitely enjoyed it. The broth was quite funky (apparently it’s boar), and it went well with the basil and tomato mousse and ham. Dipping bread into ramen broth is definitely a new experience for me, but that was actually good. I’d probably go back for their avocado sandwich set
oh, and walked through DenDen Town to remind myself that I am, indeed, a giant goddamn weeb.
A real, honest-to-goodness, festival nearby, but the youngest has a bit of a cold.
Not a word of discussion, I’ll watch her, you take him, just decided with my wife.
They played, watched a few stage shows, he ate waaaay too much (he’s a kid, even *I* don’t care thay much) had fun.
It’s probably the first festival he’ll remember.
We stayed in and played, I cleaned while she slept and amazed my wife by making her empty her lunch plates (Don’t feed a kid when you’re stressed at all, they know. Or they just instinctively trust a sorta fat guy feeding them), went grocery shopping after.
The GCCXpo debuted in Sendai. Bit disappointing, the same as five years ago, just new props from the five years since.
Talk and sign event tickets for May snapped up by non-locals who had the time and money to take a day trip, sleep in front of a store until it opens, then see the same shit they saw in Tokyo a month prior. Then do the same in May.
I’d get pissed about something like that, except that’s all some people have in life. As opposed to “Well, that sucks, time to go home to my family. I’ll act disappointed, then reveal I bought Aomori apple pies for everyone from a limited time store in the station.”
Better use of the money.
Toted up outgoings for this month and it’s a lot. Wife is currently out of work and so I’m covering everything. There are some extra expenses, we had to fix up our rented house a bit and usual costs for the hoikuen and so on. Gas and electricity 40,000 for February. Also had some guests staying so went out a bit during March. Rent about 130000 in Tokyo.
I’m making near 6m yen a year and at this rate, there’s no way I could support a family of 3 on this salary alone.
Fantastic trip to Toyama again – I do love that place. Had some fantastic sushi for lunch on Saturday, then walked around Iwase, got some beautiful pottery and iron gadgets from a smithy located there, and later had dinner at [L’evo](https://levo.toyama.jp/).
The dinner was mind-blowingly good. No joke, probably the best meal I’ve ever had in my life. Fantastic wibe pairing too, it was just so, SO good…
Anyway, on Sunday went to the glass museum on the way to the airport and flew back to Tokyo. Such an amazing trip, wish I could stay longer.
My husband decided that two dogs weren’t enough so he bought a Wire Fox Terrier puppy that he found on Instagram from someone who lives in a nearby city. I guess I’ll be spending the rest of the week cleaning up puppy poop and toilet training another dog.
Learned that UQ mobile doesn’t work in all phones. Wish they have told me this before making the contract. Could have just got a normal AU phone line 😒
Had some 雪印バタープリン, which was surprisingly good.
Turned on Disney+, but unlike the usual where there was literally nothing to watch, I saw Return to Oz was up there, a movie I had never got around to seeing. It was very soulful. Highly recommended.
Local bike parking went from 100円/hour to 150, so that’s cool. /s
RG405M came in the mail, and that’s actually cool.
Was in a pissy mood all week and weekend, but friends convinced me to go to Pride. Glad I saw friends, but Pride was super busy which isn’t a bad thing but I got overstimulated, lol. We had delicious yakiniku later. I will miss them!
Deep cleaned my apartment in preparation for my trip back to the states.
My birthday week! I can’t believe I made it this far, considering all the crap life has thrown at me in the past few years.
Saturday was a beautiful day. My best Japanese friend treated me to an Italian lunch and spent most of the time listening to my woes and worries with a very sympathetic ear.
She bought two days of groceries for me at a fancy supermarket.
I felt so much better afterwards. Life really is worth living, if there are people like her in it.
Went to see the nemophila on Maishima, after we finished, my son puked all over the back of my car. After he was done, he then asked to go to the hospital, which is highly unusual for him.
Seems like he just had too much to eat for lunch since he was just fine after taking a nap and was back to normal yesterday.
Glad he’s good though!
Started off my weekend on quite a massive downer, as I got rejected for a job I was really looking forward to at the final stage. Ended up burying myself in the pixel remasters of the classic Final Fantasy games (1-6) instead, and I managed to 100% clear all of FF1 in a single sitting on Saturday. Started working through FF2 Sunday, but I haven’t actually played this one before so I’m taking a bit more time with it instead of just kind of rushing through.
Besides that mostly sat around, shot off a few more job applications, and watched the rain come down most of the weekend.
Just when I was starting to think I was hopeless, I met a nice girl and I think we made a good connection. We spent 6 hours on our first date, just talking.
I also saw Full Metal Jacket for the first time. Even though it’s not the kind of movie I usually watch, I think it was great. So I’ll be watching more of Stanley Kubrick’s movies soon, the guy was a genius.
Then this morning I had a Larry David moment. There was a huge poop stain on my window. I live on a second floor, and the window opens downwards and can’t be fully opened. So I was trying to clean it by pouring water on it, and precisely at that time my neighbor started walking there, with his flashy suit, going to work.
Went shopping in Umeda for the first time on a weekend in ages. 0/10 do not recommend lol. I was sooo tired because there’s just nowhere to sit down! Literally every cafe and restaurant had people queuing up, just like old times.
After getting what I wanted (Daiso’s new spring collection of gel nail polishes, they’re all SO CUTE!!!!), I ended up jumping on the train and heading to Nishinomiya Gardens to chill there for the rest of the day. Much more relaxing :)))
had an Eid celebration with other people from my country and then proceeded to finish Spiderman PS4 the next day

I completed [phase 4](https://www.google.com/mymaps/viewer?mid=10fvRDqvA1_LqlfViQd6FME4syLtopDbt&hl=en) of my years-in-progress cycling project. I have been attempting to ride my bicycle to every rail station in Japan. Feeling good!
Now 10 prefectures down, 37 to go!

[Lots of this](https://i.imgur.com/UhiSQMK.jpg) around these days–very nice.
