The best otoro I ever ate in Japan

We spent 3 weeks in Japan and ate all around the different markets, sushi restaurants, stalls, conveyor belt, etc and this small hole in the wall we stumbled across by accident was THE best otoro I ever had.

All they served was tuna in multiple ways. What you see here is the otoro bowl, tuna karrage, and teriyaki.

Otoro tekka don daburu – double layer of otoro on top and bottom of sushi rice. Cost was 3,000Y about $22 USD. The thing melted in your mouth like butter.

The spot was ran by husband and wife for 45 years. I still think about this meal.
