How to know when you can use an airbnb as a registered address?

Apologies, as I know this topic has been discussed multiple times on the sub, but I couldn’t find an answer to this question anywhere. I’m planning a whv and my understanding is that in some cities, airbnbs can’t be registered as an address for insurance etc., but in some, it’s fine (as long as you can access the mailbox).

However, I can’t figure out where to find the rules regarding this for each city. Does anyone know if there’s a consistent place on government websites to find the info? I’m particularly interested in Sapporo, as it doesn’t have short-term rentals available like tokyo and osaka does.

Thanks in advance!

    There is not.

If you’re reasonably literate in Japanese and masochistic enough to dig through city regulations you could probably find it, but… Also maybe not. I can’t find the info on my city’s website, for example. And it’s fairly well organized.

Basically the answer is to call or email the ward/city office where you’re going to be living.
