Bought a new phone overseas – UQmobile sim won’t connect.

This is a super niche question but it’s worth a shot.

I bought a new phone overseas (am still overseas) and want my to put my Japanese sim in so I can log into/verify my Line account. Only problem is that it won’t connect to the cell networks without the UQ mobile set-up.

From watching the guy in the cell phone store, I need to download and install APN profile (done), but then also there was some dial code that changes the carrier settings… does anyone know what that is?

New phone is the iPhoneX is that means anything.

  1. You can verify LINE account by SMS stuff by receiving SMS on another device and typing it in on the new one. You don’t need to have the sim in phone.

  2. I use UQ! And originally was using an iPhoneX from overseas as well.

My experience was that trying to do it myself was fruitless. But any AU/UQ store should be able to fix it really quick. The code was the part that tripped me up when I switched phones as well.

It’s annoying, but going to a store in person is probably the fastest solution. They fixed it in about 5 minutes when I changed phones.
