What are your best direct resources for learning vocab?

Any Instagram pages or youtube channels you’d recommend?

Thanks 🙌🙌

  1. Unclear what you’re looking for. What is “direct” to you? Something word of the day like, with English, or more comprehensive input? What level?

Anyway, I personally found monolingual sources aimed at beginners (keywords: any of 基本、入門、初心者 plus the thing you’re interested in) a good way to get into domain vocabulary around a hobby or interest.

For example, this is part of a 料理の基本 site. I used stuff like this to get into reading recipes. It’s literally just a list of kitchen equipment with a picture and brief description. Another page will have an explanation of how to prepare various vegetables.

If you prefer video, on youtube, you will similarly find people who will go through the basics of weaving, different types of sake, bike maintenance, or whatever it is you want to pick up vocab for.

  2. for me it’s books

and by that I mean monolingual Japanese books, and I use a dictionary a lot called “jisho.org” to look up words I don’t know, which is…a lot of words…

I did learn a few vocab from youtube though, yeah just look into stuff you are interested in already
