just silly question I have, what does the big O means?

hey just wanted to ask what does the “O” in some texts mean them seem to be on like, market discounts or something I’m not too sure. its just a circle

  1. It would be helpful to see an example.

    Sometimes, Japanese will have an X to show that something is wrong and an O to show that it’s correct.

  2. Do you mean the thing like ○○さん, ○○する, or ○○会社?

    If so, you can read it まるまる.

    ○○さん(まるまるさん) is like a person whose name is ○○ (something something).
    You can use Aさん Bさん as a person A or B, 誰々さん(だれだれさん)as so and so, and ○○さん(まるまるさん) when mentioning someone who is not specific in you explanation.
    You don’t have to choose some specific family name as an example of you use ○○.

    It’s also used besides person’s name.
    You can use it instead of specific words.
