The short and sweet is me and my wife (Japanese citizen) are retiring in the next 2-3 years and plan to move back to Japan and are looking to purchase a home. I have a few questions revolving around getting a mortgage, first one being, do they accept income made outside of Japan? To make the move a little more smooth we want to buy the house now, while we are still working. My second question is, do they accept income made from the VA? Its about $50k a year, tax free so I know it meets income requirement amounts but not sure how a bank would view that source of income, my instincts is it will be okay, especially since a monthly check from the US government is a pretty secure income, but Japan has been known to have backwards thinking rules.
My final question is what bank is a good bank to go with and what rates are available for a 35 year mortgage? Obviously doesn’t have to be english or foreigner friendly since the wife is Japanese.
Any and all discussion is welcomed outside of my questions being I’m new to this process and want to soak up any and all info regarding this plan, thanks all!

This is kinda beyond the scope of this subreddit. You’ll have much better luck in r/JapanFinance.
