That is a bummer to hear… I was rooting for the company.
Very unfortunate. 🙁
Depending on where it landed, a strong enough telescope should be able to tell them if it landed and lost contact, or was actually just destroyed.
It made contact with aliens
Tragic. One of my wife’s colleagues recently chose to work with her employer of that firm, ispace. It will be interesting to see what he has to say about this. They’ll look for the lost lander with NASA’s lunar orbital craft.
There’s a fair bit more information here. Mildly paywalled but Firefox’s reader mode will get past it.
I hope they will do this again and this failure will not be a deterrent to their future explorations.
Did it’s fax machine go down?
Quick someone “contact” Jodie Foster.
Moon’s Haunted
Well at least it got no western media attention.
First Zhulong on Mars, now this. 🙁
Ah sod it 🙁
I personally know someone who is involved in the mission so it’s extra sad. That being said, I knew it wasn’t a low risk mission like we are routinely used to seeing like those Starlink deployments. To me (a complete novice) it did look like the telemetry was showing a rapid rate of descent before it lost contact and entered simulation mode so hopefully they can at least figure out what went wrong
