Scheduled some gaming time with my Japanese friend, I could use a resource or two

Some context first:

I’ve had a Japanese pen pal since high school and we’ve stayed friends for decades now. She’s extremely proficient in English, which is how we’ve normally communicated. Now she’s learning Spanish, which I’m fluent in, and I’m learning Japanese. We’re going to schedule some time to play games together and practice speaking to each other in different languages. We have some friends from Spain too who are also learning Japanese and English. The rule of the group is that you’re not allowed to speak your native language.

My plan is to not worry *too much* about forming complicated sentences during high stress moments of the game (we’re playing Fortnite). I plan to use only basic phrases to communicate during combat. I’m looking for resources containing gaming terminology that I can cram leading up to this weekend if you have any. Words like “items”, “healing”, “ammo”, “gun”, and “cover” would be useful. Maybe there are some basic phrases someone could recommend? Like “Follow me” or something similar?

I’m doing my due diligence and researching on my own, but I worry that I might not find the correct wording or that I’m misunderstanding proper conjugation. So I decided to ask this subreddit.

Is there a resource you’d recommend? Or maybe there are basic phrases you think might be useful?

Thank you ahead of time

  1. Misa from the Youtube channel ‘Japanese Ammo with Misa’ made two great videos about it! If you just search for ‘Misa gaming terms’, you will find it
