How to make general statements about things you do or do not do?

It’s been a long time since I’ve studied Japanese and I’m trying to shake off the rust. I know how to make statements about things that I am *currently* doing or not doing, but I am unsure of how I would say that I do or do not *generally* do something.

For example, for a simple statement like “I am not eating pork,” “豚肉を食べていない” is obviously super easy, but if I wanted to say “I do not eat pork,” how would I go about it?

  1. I could be wrong since I’m still early in my learning journey. Isn’t it just 豚肉を食べない ?

  2. Getting downvoted for asking a question regarding learning Japanese on r/LearnJapanese. Fucking Reddit.

As for your question, it would just be 豚肉を/は食べない

  3. Simple present works for statements like what you said. In addition to this if you want to talk about common occurrences or habitual behaviors you can also use verb(present) + ことがある.
すしを食べることがある: I (on occasion) eat sushi
