I’m not referring to modern princesses but those that would have lived in the past like the Heian period. Is there a specific term you would use to refer to them?

**Update:** I found the answer on my own. If you want to refer to a princess either in historical Japan or in historical fiction in Japan then you would use the word “お姫様”. If you want to specify it’s a Japanese princess then you would use “和風お姫様”.

You mean ひめ/姫?

edit: Also cause I hit enter too soon: 姫さま is also what you might be looking for.
Are you referring to the specific term for the daughters of the emperor? They are called 内親王 in Japanese. They’re still called 内親王 up until marriage.

You have been trolled so hard, this is glorious, 10/10
