Looking for some help with a game I got going on for Monday. Please answer a few questions if you have 2 minutes!!

Thanks for checking my plea! I have a game like family feud I’m going to play so I need hopefully 100 answers…

So this is for my Jr high school kids. They just passed Eiken 4 so they’re studying for 3. Simple enough words will suffice but realistic is best.

What can you do in English school?
What can you do on a boat?
What can you do on the beach
What can you do in a shopping mall?
What can’t you do at home?
What can’t you do on an airplane?
What can’t you do in a movie theater?

  1. * School: learn
    * Boat: Float
    * Beach: Relax
    * Mall: Shop
    * Home: scream
    * Plane: Swim
    * Movie: Swim

  2. What I do is split them into teams and let any student answer as many times as they like (barrage of hands) , and tally team scores on board. Then you don’t have to worry about the family feud system and can just focus on having interesting/challenging questions with multiple answers. Stuff like Name a Spanish speaking country, Name something you find in space, Name a body part, Name the most expensive thing in your house, Name a scary animal that starts with the letter S, Say a sound that an animal makes in English, Say a word that rhymes with mat, etc. And if you get too many answers just move on, of course. Can start with line game in case it drags out after 40 minutes. Idk how many questions I use but a collection of 30 is probably too many. Oh yeah and write their team number on paper and stick it on the end of the desks if you’re retarded like me and keep writing the scores for the wrong team

  3. 1. Study
    2. Go fishing
    3. Play volleyball
    4. Eat food
    5. Drive a car
    6. Smoke a cigarette
    7. Play guitar

  4. 1) english school- study
    2) boat- go fishing
    3) beach- sun tan
    4) mall- window shop
    5) x home- run inside
    6) x airplane- talk loudly
    7) x movie theater- talk loudly

    If I were you, I would make a simple google forms for people to type in their answers— compiling all these answers from comments is going to be a headache.

  5. * study
    * fish
    * sunbathe
    * shop
    * make noise
    * smoke
    * shout “fire!”

    For future games, consider surveying your students for these answers. Tell them that they will be helping next year’s kids. It might be more motivating for students to hear that the answers came from kids their age. Plus, it’s good English practice for them. : )

    By the way, the survey game reminds me of “So Says Japan”, a guessing game based on surveys of Japanese university students on a variety of topics. The maker sells their game cards but also have a free downloadable version: https://www.tanukigames.org/index.php

  6. Boat – go fishing
    Beach – make a sand castle / play with sand
    Mall – eat lunch
    Home – see friends
    Plane – exercise
    Theatre – talk

    Fun idea mate, good luck!
