Trip to Japan

So me and my girlfriend are planning a holiday trip to Japan in a year or so. Ive seen online that there can be abit of trouble with foreign tourists. Just wondering would this affect my holiday much? as i want to see as much of japan as possible. And if so any tips or ways i reduce the likeliness of trouble with the people.
Thank you 🙂

  1. We were there this past Decmber. We were part of the early-ish tourists to return. No problem at all once in the country. Immigration was madness bc we didn’t complete the online registration for the Japanese authorities to perfection. We completed the United Airlines registration and we thought that would be good for the government too. Our error. So be sure you get this part right and it’s smooth going after that.

  2. Weird. I’ve never heard anything remotely like that in my life…???? I’ve spent a lot of time there as a foreigner….

  3. I’ve lived in Japan for almost five years and have never experienced any problems as a foreigner. What do you mean by trouble? Sounds so very weird to me. Japan is one of the safest countries in the world and people are super nice.

  4. Generally? No, likely no trouble as long as you yourself won’t be causing trouble. As with every other place in the world however, no one can tell what individuals you will meet and what experiences you will have. Generally, I’d say Japan always feels rather welcoming, though in Tokyo it did seem people often were like “incredibly” busy, more south at Itoshima for example, things seemed more casually relaxed in some way? Hard to tell. Anyway, I did not meet a single person I didn’t like or had trouble with in Japan. Maybe one or two I had trouble understanding, but .. well that’s another story 🙂

  5. There millions of foreigner tourists now here, you will be fine. All of them are fine. You will not stand out or anything don’t worry.

  6. In my (very limited) experience, it was absolutely fine. You might encounter a couple of situations that makes you wonder if it’s because you’re foreign but overall, it’s an amazing country. Everyone I encountered, excluding one person, was super friendly.
