When is mount fuji cleared of snow?

Thinking about hiking to the top for the experience but I don’’t wanna bring my parka.

  1. It really depends on the weather. I climbed in June several years ago and the snow level was above the roof of the huts. I saw Mt. Fuji this morning and there is still significant snow near the peak. I assume it is all clear by July and August in the hiking season.

  2. Planning to wear flip flops too?

Fuji is almost 3800m high. It’s an easy hike considering how high it is but it’s still a high mountain.
I suggest familiarizing yourself with some hiking basics first before attempting the hike.

  3. I’ve climbed it in July three times. And every time there’s been a bit of snow at the peak. But every time it’s super cold. First time was probably below 0. Second and third were probably above 0 below 10. Threw up the first time from the lack of oxygen.
You need more than a hoodie.

  4. I would strongly suggest you go during climbing season.
Which is generally July 10 to Sept 10 (Fujiyoshida route is usually mostly open on July 1st though.)

If you have a lot of experience, equipment, knowledge and physical fitness it may be possible to extend those dates somewhat into June and maybe late September but there will be snow. I would not advise it for the vast vast majority of people. People die every year on the mountain.. don’t be one of them.
