Question about competing for PIA tickets

Hi all!

I’m thinking about getting tickets for an event (Kcon Japan) tomorrow but apparently it’s going to be super competitive and usually sells out within minutes, if not SECONDS. I was wondering whether anyone knows when the tickets are “locked in” and safe? Is it when I get to the payment page, or only after I’ve successfully bought them? I’m planning on buying 2 tickets and I’m worried that inputting 2 sets of information is going to take too long and I’ll miss out. Does anyone have any experience with this?

  1. Doesn’t pia ticketing usually use lottery system? You input your data and apply, then wait until lottery result announcement date, should be e-mailed to you. Only if you won the lottery you have to pay within like 2 weeks or so from the announcement. If you lost, on some events there will be second wave lottery so you can re-apply.

Edit: I googled it up and seems like [all tickets have already been sold out](https://t.pia.jp/pia/event/event.do?eventBundleCd=b2342627), both the lottery and the normal ‘first come first serve’ tickets. Where did you get the info that you can still buy them tomorrow?

  2. It’s been a few years since I did チケット戦争, but be prepared with a few different devices with separate internet connections (like phone on 4/5G and laptop on home wifi) because in multiple decades, these ticket sites haven’t learned how to fortify their infrastructure to not shit the bed when lots of people are trying to access at once, so you’ll get a number of “sorry the site is really busy rn” messages likely.

  3. I tried waiting for general sale at 10am for a concert where I missed the lottery. No chance.

  4. I managed to get tickets in the lottery (sorry), but IIRC your tickets are only confirmed when you pay. It’s been a while (like pre-Covid) but I’m pretty sure I’ve had my purchases fail after inputting payment info (which didn’t go through.)

Try make sure you’re logged in to pia just before 10, have your phone number and email address etc confirmed, remember your password and have already saved your CC details.

    Good luck!!

  5. In my experience Ticket Pia sucks for general sale if the lottery sold out. Even with an account and all of my info saved and ready, every time I’ve used it the site will overload and not be available until after tickets are sold out, or I was able to click on what ticket I want and then the next page wouldn’t load, or my info and then the confirmation page wouldn’t load, and then it sells out.

If you can have a few people try at once on different networks especially for individual tickets it sounds like it will go better.

  6. For general (first come first serve) ticket sales (10AM or whatever time), I have better luck waiting in front of an actual terminal at a convenience store and buying it there. Worked for me 5 times out of 9 so far.
