Just took my kid to the Ninja training camp in Iga. They got the parents involved in everything and it was way more fun than I expected. There’s also museums, a castle, waterfalls everywhere and a suspension bridge. The scenery in the area was really beautiful so I recommend taking the low-roads if it’s not too far for you. It only added about 20 minutes from Osaka.
What is everyone else doing with their kids?

If your close to Osaka, this ^^^^ is going on and i think a kid would enjoy it. I’m going there tomorrow
Osaka:
Kids Plaza near Tenma Station, The Museum of Housing and Living, Big Bang in Sakai, Kaiyukan, Hirakata Park, and Kidzania
Kyoto
Kyoto Aquarium, Kyoto Railway Museum, Tōei Uzumasa Eigamura, and Manga Museum
Sounds great, my kids would definitely love that but I’m in Kanagawa unfortunately. Do you have recommendations for Kanagawa? I and my wife just started learning Japanese though. Thanks in advance.
Is the ninja thing only for kids, or do they have adult sessions too?
One of my friend and kids are into Dragon Quest so :
Nijigen no Mori : [Home | [Official] Nijigen no Mori](https://nijigennomori.com/en/)
They also have Godzilla, Naruto and Crayon Shin-chan area.

They are also into mentaiko so :
[Mentai park – Sanda](https://mentai-park.com/kobe/)
While in Sanda, you should go to the [museum of Nature and Human Activities](https://www.hitohaku.jp/) ; one of the biggest public musuem in Japan

If the weather is good and ground not soaked with water thus you want outside activities (depending of their walking endurance) :
Minoh waterfall + [insect museum](https://www.mino-konchu.jp/)
Takatsuki – [Imashirozuka Burial Mound Park](https://www.takatsuki-kankou.org/imashiro-daio/)
[Takedao abandoned railway trail](https://nishinomiya-kanko.jp/wp/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/9056ddaf5b8e706cc5ffb463519a1fe8.pdf) + [Osamu Tezuka museum](https://www.city.takarazuka.hyogo.jp/tezuka/)
[Sakuya Konohana Kan](https://www.sakuyakonohana.jp/) + Tsurumi Ryokuchikouen

Never went to this one but, if the kids are into plane :
[Itami children’s cultural science museum](http://business4.plala.or.jp/kodomo/) + Itami sky park
Similar to the ninja camp in Iga there are ninja activities (river crossing etc) in the Akame waterfalls next to nabari. There is also a cool skate park in nabari and a forest adventure place in yamazoe. If you like the area you can also try Mitsue village it is a bit more far but there is a kids activity camp and many parks along the river for bbq etc.
Kids Plaza and the Osaka science museum are pretty fun. Also if your kid likes trains, there’s a train museum in Kyoto. And if you want a different type of aquarium, check out Nifrel in Expo City.
Although I’m guessing these all may be packed to the brim during golden week.
