Itinerary Check – 20 Days Tokyo-Kyoto-Osaka-Hiroshima

Hello everybody,

we will be going to Japan for 20 days in a couple of weeks.

We (mid 30s couple) are travelling with our 16 months old daughter, so I tried to make a realistic itineray with nothing set in stone bar the first few days after landing since I had to make reservations for that.

We will be staying in Odaiba during the first Tokyo stay and next to Ueno Park during the second one.

I realise we will be missing a lot of stuff, but will most likely come back in a few years when she’s a bit older.

We land at around 7AM on the 17th of May and go straight to the Hotel in Odaiba, we will be jetlagged so we’ll wing the first day.

  1. I’d move the senso-ji/kappabashi/ueno park bit to the second half of trip, given the fact that your hotel is in Ueno itself. Especially if you want to buy something in Kappabashi, so you don’t have to drag that around for 2+weeks.

3 full days in Hiroshima seems like 1 too many if you need 1 for the peace park and 1 for Okunoshim.a Why not add an extra night to the ryokan in Mijayima instead? Gives you more time to enjoy that experience and see the island on a more leisurely pace.
