Sashimi cut at home

I started doing this at a friends house about a year ago, but in no way are we pros or even really that good at it. For context, this is straight from a salmon purchased from Costco. Like I said I have done this a few times now and have never gotten sick, but do this at your own risk. I will say the fish tastes pretty darn good, maybe not to be compared to some of the more high-end places, but definitely better than some of the cheaper places I’ve gone to!

  1. Salmon looks so fatty with some Gohan you all set🤙🤙🤙

  2. I do this with salmon from my Asian market. Just had some this week!! I like to slice up Serrano pepper or jalapeño, some green onion, and then drizzle it with ponzu & sriracha.

  3. This is definitely iffy, dont think these are sushi grade from Costco, would not recommend it

  4. Okay, so not to be that snob but I think you already know where this is going. I read your context and you should not be eating any fish from Costco raw. It’s less likely to make you sick and more likely to give you parasites that you do not want. The same thing goes for raw pork, you won’t get sick eating it but a few years later you might find yourself with some friends in the toilet or in your muscles.

As much as I would love to consume “cheap” raw fish from places like Costco which have a higher quality standard, it’s simply something you *should not do*. The taste is fine and you won’t get sick but the repercussions/consequences come later. It even says on the package that it should not be consumed raw. Sushi grade fish is handled specifically, cleaned specifically and frozen specifically so it can be eaten raw. The process that goes through removes or kills most if not all bacteria and parasites which makes it safe to consume. If you’ve been doing this for a year, I seriously suggest going to your doctor and having a conversation about it.
