Flying Scoot was a horrible decision

I was planning on going to Singapore from Narita during GW. I booked through my trip through Expedia. And the airline I was supposed to use was Scoot Airline, a subsidiary of Singapore Airlines. They changed my flight from 4pm to 8am without proper notice. So of course I missed my flight. I called them and they were without a doubt the rudest customer service I ever had the displeasure of dealing with. They refused to help, and then the guy actually hung up on me. Do yourself a favor and stay away from this company.

Does anyone have any similar experiences with Scoot or Singapore Airlines?

  1. > I booked through my trip through Expedia

This is the main problem. OTA are horrible when dealing with these minds of thing.

And it’s them you need to call, not Scoot

  2. I flied Scoot once, flight was delayed by 2 hours, missed my connecting flight and had to wait 4 hours for a flight that went to a different airport. Had hands down the most uncomfortable seat I have ever sat in, and there was this stupid music playing through the speakers even at night time while people were trying to sleep?

They weren’t rude but the captain kept making these stupid jokes over the speaker. Just annoying when you’re on no sleep and on a delayed flight.

Biggest mistake I’ve ever made while travelling, next time I’ll pay more for a direct flight on a different airline.

  3. Sorry this happened, but as others said never ever ever book a flight thru a third party website, because the airline then washes their hands on customer service saying the onus is on the booking website.

  4. Not with those airlines. Mine was with Jetstar airline. The flight I booked was cancelled by their agent without my consent and I could not go back to my country for vacation because of that stupid agent.

  5. I flew with scoot once too, I shit you not, the cabin attendant actually farted while she was pushing the trolley.

  6. I prefer not to travel than having to fly on a low cost carrier. Too many issues, not worth it.

  7. I never got to fly scoot because they cancelled their flight without informing me and there was no one at the check in desk because it was 5am and the flight was scheduled for 6. Had to book a flight at the airport with a different carrier so that I would make my connecting flight back to Japan. Never doing business with them again.

  8. When it comes to budget airlines, Scoot is not too bad compared to some of the other ones.

But if you book with a third-party site like Expedia, you shouldn’t expect the airline to be on the hook for customer service issues.

  9. Sorry that happened to you.

FWIW I used to fly Scoot 1-2 times a year in the before times and never had an issue.

  10. Dont get me started on that airline. Abandoned me in Singapore (told me no other flights go my destination for a month) refused to help me

  11. Book directly when flying.

Never use Expedia or other 3rd party even if it’s cheaper (and usually not much cheaper).

If something goes wrong you are usually fu&&ed with 3rd party sites.

  12. Scoot has flights to Europe. I can’t imagine.

Anyway it’s a LCC, and I don’t think the service is worse than other similar airlines.

  13. When issues like this happens, having a travle insurance is golden (it usually applies to most common activities outside the home and work, not just travel), and having booked with a credit card that gives insurance for flight travels is quite nice too.

Last time I was in Tokyo my baggage was lost so I got covered to buy some change of clothes on the first day (would have gotten more reimbursed after the 3rd, bit thankfully my luggage was recovered already by the time I came back from shopping). By the way, my clothes from flying for ~20 hours absolutely reeked (i had showered, but couldn’t change clothes) so the guy at H&M who collected used tried clothes looked at me with disgust 😂

  14. I tried Scoot for the first time, from Bangkok to Japan, and it was actually my worst flight ever. They make you seated almost one hour before arrival!! Never on my international flights I was denied bathroom before arrival that early! They’re never apologetic even though I asked to, rather it made me feel like livestock!! Worst flight ever!!

  15. Unfortunately thats scoot and expedia in a nutshell

Its such a 180 from SIA that you’d think they werent a subsidiary, but alas

  16. they weren’t the friendliest crew I’ve had.. and I flew Scoot business from Osaka-Bangkok.. it was the most uncomfortable flight I’ve ever been on.. we’ll maybe second next to Air Asia economy for the same route

  17. I know a girl that I used to be somewhat close with that did such a 180 getting a job at Scoot that in the process she’s sold her soul and I never talk to her anymore, so this thread is kinda amusing to me reading how awful the airline actually is lol.

    >!She’s worked there since like late 2017 or early 2018. Had to sign some crazy contract, and it seemingly should have expired during covid, but I think the company didn’t let it. And wouldn’t be surprised if she’s renewed since then, because she seems to enjoy projecting her fake life. Aaand I’m ranting…!<

  18. I flew Singapore to japan last week. Didn’t have any issues with it. They do make you pay for everything which is expected with this airline. I sat in the very last row and had no issues sleeping

  19. I hear they also routinely run out of water and any other liquids on their flights, but wait, there’s more!
