How much does a Lexus LS Shaken cost on average?

Hello everyone,

I’m considering buying a Lexus LS and was wondering if anyone here has an idea of how much the Shaken costs on average for this car. Also, does anyone know if there is a significant cost difference for the 4600cc and 3500cc models?

Thanks in advance for your help!

  1. Age milage etc?

    Dealer or self?

To many variables but I would guess around 200,000-300,000 if you’re dealershiping it.

    50000ish if you self shaken.

  2. IDK about Lexus but shaken for my husband’s SUV runs around ¥100,000 ~ ¥120,000. I think engine size matters more for the annual car tax than for the shaken.

  3. I have an LS460 2007 bought 2 years ago.
Love the car. But from 2007 until 2009 the ls model have some problem. Most expensive is air suspension failing. I advise you to convert to a spring suspensions.
車検 depends if you car has any issues. Last year I paid around 10万 every 2 years and 税金 is around the same price every year.

  4. Paid about 65,000 for my cx5 at my local Yellow Hat. I got a provisional car for the time it took them to get it done (2 days).

  5. If you buy an LS do you have to do the ubiquitous sitting low, leaning toward the inside with one hand on top of the steering wheel sucking on a e-cigarette or vape pen and not using your turn signal until you’re actually in the process of turning and even then it’s only about one or two clicks? And do you have to wear sweatpants and have one of those long, oversized wallets hanging out while you walk around Don Quixote in your crocs?

  6. I would guess 100,000 to 300,000 depending on is any work that needs to be done (the base weight tax rate is high on that one) and the 4600cc has a yearly tax of 88000ish. One thing just becuase it is Japanese does not mean that thing will be cheap to repair/maintain it is just it will go longer between the repairs.

  7. There’s a misconception with Shaken. The test itself isn’t expensive. The bulk of the cost comes from the mandatory insurance and weight tax which varies by car (engine size, how old it is, and weight).

  8. There’s a chart. The costs are standard. You must pay the compulsory insurance (自賠責保険) which is ¥20,010 for a white plate for 2 years. Next you need the actual inspection cost which is based on vehicle weight (tonnage) and age (<13 years, between 13 and 18 years, or >18 years). A 2023 Lexus LS500 is about 2.3 tons (depending on model) which would put shaken cost at ¥41,000 since it’s under 13 years old. That’s a grand total of ¥61,010. This is a base cost you must pay to complete shaken, assuming you don’t have to buy any repair parts. Car shops and dealerships will also add a service fee, that could be anywhere from ¥10,000 to ¥60,000 on top. Dealerships especially like to add cleaning fees, coatings, sealants, rust prevention sprays, and so on which quickly drive the price up. Make sure you check the quote and ask what each line item is before agreeing to do the shaken.

  9. don`t forget the yearly tax…which is about 98,000 for a 4600 CC ..use to have a Mustang 4.6 and after 10 years I believe the tax goes up 10% per year…and sometimes could blow 5000 yen a day on gas.. the shaken was about 80,000 if I did it myself…

I did my Audi Roadster convertible today and it was 53,000 (87,000-100,000) at a shop..it will be considerably more than that,,,
