If you really want to wow them, make some homemade stuff and give it to them when it’s ready. Homemade umeshu is a whole other beastie.
Hoshiko umeshu is pretty good.
The guys who make Hitachino Nest Beer (Kiuchi Shuzo) also make a mighty tasty umeshu.
I love unibio rainbow umeshu. It’s the best that I’ve found. Everyone has their favourite though. I haven’t found a bad one yet. Black sugar umeshu is also good.

Aged 5 years in oak barrels, comes with a nice packaging. Each bottled is numbered because it’s a limited edition.
The Umeshu (and Peony Liquor) from Hokusetsu are the best. They are also quite nice blended 50/50 with their nihonshu.
