PSA: there has been reports of multiple Revolut JP cards being used in fraudulent transactions within the past couple of days

Haven’t seen this discussion posted yet. I’ve seen this discussed on JP internet, for instance [here](https://androplus.org/entry/revolut-unauthorized-use-202305/).

Copypasting the translated version here:

> Since around May 2023, a number of cases of unauthorized use of Revolut’s real and virtual cards have been reported.

> The Most Reported Is Escuela Cubana De Ballet In Hollywood, US.

> My card was also damaged and I applied for a chargeback.

> It was not frozen in Escuela Cubana De Ballet’s settlement, and was automatically frozen in subsequent unauthorized settlement in Makati, PH’s Grab.

> Because there are many victims of unauthorized use, there are no similarities on the sites you used, and there are cases where cards that have never been used have been damaged, so it is thought that it is a fraudulent use due to a bruation.

> Revolut forced to reissue real cards for free in July 2022, so there were a large number of cards with the same expiration date.

> The attacker probably abused it and tried the card number and CVC (or using a business operator that does not need CVC) at random.

> Even if you blocked online transactions, it was misused, so it seems that you created a fake card by some means.

> If you have a Revolut card, freeze the card from the “Card” screen of the app now.

> Revolut can create virtual cards and disposable cards in addition to real cards, so it seems safer to use them basically.

> Perhaps due to this large-scale unauthorized use, the number of reissues will increase in the same period, so cards reissued at the same time may also be a target.

  1. I just have gotten a request to approve a Grab transaction in PHP,
not having used the Revolut card ever in the Philippines, nor being there at the moment.
It really seems that there is currently some problem (data leak?) with Revolut.

  2. Where are these cards even from? I’ve never heard of this company.
