Has anyone here shipped a guitar overseas? A friend in the US is interested in a guitar I’ve seen locally, but I don’t know anyone who will be flying out that way anytime soon (which seems to be the ideal method). It’s too long for JP Post. Is there any reasonable shipping method available to individuals rather than corporate? About how much would the cost run? Trying to see if this is feasible.

I have a friend that does this as a business and it’s complicated from tax, import/export license etc. The shipping is kind of the easier part.
For one- it’s pack it really well and takkyubin. And wait. And hope it doesn’t get destroyed.
Only an anecdote to illustrate what you are approaching–I once wanted to ship a Martin to the US (kuroneko), and they would not accept it without pre-assessing a US import duty on it. No amount of explaining about it being a US product helped, and I ended up hand-carrying it on a later trip.
