Notes:
\- My wife and I are traveling but only I will be driving.
\- We will make way to Kitakyushu, then Kurokawa, then Mount Aso and Takachiho. We have decided to skip Beppu.
\- We will stay in Fukuoka for a few days at the end of the road trip. Car rental from May 12 (airport) and returning on May 17 (Nakasu, Fukuoka)
\- All accommodations are set. Kitakyushu, Kurokawa 2 nights, Mount Aso, Takachiho
\- Few nights are at ryokans with dinner included so we aim to be back at ryokans by \~5pm daily. We usually limit activities to late morning to late afternoons only.

5:00pm Check in ryokan, dinner etc.

12:00pm Lunch + explore Yufuin
2:00pm 40m Drive to Kokonoe Yume Otsuribashi Bridge
2:40pm Explore bridge
4:00pm 45m Drive back to ryokan, via mount Kuju, Komatsu Jigoku
5:00pm Arrive at ryokan, dinner etc.

11:00am 40m Drive to Aso Roadside Station via Milk Road (Prefectural Road 339)
11:45am Optional trip to Aso Jinja
12:30pm 20m Drive to Mount Aso. Visit Aso Volcano Museum if time permits
1:00pm Mount Aso helicopter/crater visit via toll road
3:00pm 30m Drive to Fairy Tale zoo in south Aso
3:30pm Pet some animals
4:30pm 5m Drive to accommodation nearby

11:00am Takachiho gorge boat ride + visit Takachiho Shrine
3:00pm 5m Drive to Amaterasu Railway
3:05pm Amaterasu ride
4:00pm 10m Drive to Amanoiwato
4:15pm Visit Amanoiwato Shrine and Amanoyasukawara
5:00pm 10m Drive to accommodation in Takachiho

11:00am Check out. 2.5hr Drive to Tosu Premium Outlets
Stop by roadside stations, etc.
2:00pm Shopping at Tosu outlets
5:30pm 35m Drive to Tenjin, check-in hotel + bag drop
6:30pm 10m Drive to Toyota Nakasu shop, return rental car

\- Any obvious sites that I could include without big changes to our route?
\- Is Komatsu Jigoku still closed?
\- Is Aso Jinja worth it and do I have enough time for it on May 15?
\- Will I get wet at Takachiho gorge’s boat ride?
