We’ve reached out to a couple immigration lawyers, and before we wire anyone money we’d like to ensure that they are who they say they are, and not some kind of scam. Here in Canada, you can look up any lawyer and confirm their credentials. I’ve had no such luck finding something similar for Tokyo or Japan.

Why are you using immigration lawyers for Japan? It’s really not needed and a very straightforward and close to free system to use.
