I studied it in college 5ish years ago. Have spoken/read/texted friends in japanese a bit since. Have tried using duolingo to an extent but lost a lot of it.
I still retain most of the grammar, I can recognize and read some of the kanji I knew before but can’t write from memory anymore. and have lost vocab.
Any tips for REALLY getting back into it other than just starting from scratch?
Also, I always had a problem retaining vocab. I could study it with repetitive writing and flashcards to pass tests easily but retaining those words past that was always difficult for me. Not all words come up often in dialogue so how do I remember them..?
