DeepL API to ElevenLabs API – incredible

I’m super excited to have found that Japanese to English using these 2 tools is mind blowing. I have it down to about a 4 second delay. I built a NextJS app that I run on an Android phone. I run a Japanese Nonprofit and For-profit companies and have large meetings and I can hear people talk for lengthy periods without asking for assistance in translation.

Background: I’m a software engineer and have been living in Japan for 15 years. I have a horrible memory for spoken word, something I noticed as a child. I can only remember if I commit to memorizing flash cards thousands of times. This makes Japanese business discourse impossible without a translator.

If you don’t know Elevenlabs, is the best Ai Text to Speech tool with API. DeepL is arguably the best Ai Language translation tool. Using the API’s together feels like a super power.

I’m experimenting with combining more Ai models to increase the accuracy and performance.

That’s it!!! 🙂 I just want to share my experience. Get the juices flowing.

DeepL is quite bad at translating. ChatGPT, ironically, is much better (far from perfect though).

EDIT: Just cause I’m getting downvoted, here’s my [source](https://i.imgur.com/dLca4MS.png). I’ve been running translation checks between Google Translate, DeepL, GPT3.5 and GPT4 and both GPT3.5 and GPT4 (the latter especially) blow both of them waaay out of the water like it’s not even a contest. I’m not a fan of GPT being used for language learning but this is pretty much a fact. Ironically, DeepL is also the MTL tool that I see consistently make up bullshit or drop entire sentences or get confused and mistranslate stuff in a more misleading way (that’s the “misleading risk” in the screenshot). Worse than Google Translate even, which was very surprising to me. I can’t share the data yet but I will once my experiment is over.
