  1. KOPW is quickly becoming one of my favorite titles in NJPW. The matches we have been getting for the past year have been so fun to watch.

Shingo Takagi and Taichi’s series of matches have really elevated the title to new heights. There was great storytelling in the Takagi-Style Triad match. Taichi winning KOPW is the conclusion to long-term storytelling and felt like a big deal!

  2. last year Shingo was busy pumping up banger after banger for the KOPW while a lot of people on this sub bitched and moaned “why isnt he world champion wah wah wah” ignoring the present work he was doing.

I wish MFs would watch the show and shut up sometimes. Shingo and Taichi have elevated that belt with their rivalry.

  3. I liked it back in the Yano days because it was nice to see some fun, goofy matches to take a breather and chit-chat with the Live Thread Army. Once we got that amazing 30 Count Match I was sold that it was going to take a step in the correct direction, and they just keep making it better. Really enjoying it so far.

Just wait until Ibushi returns and we get the 25-Hour Iron Man Match

  4. It always had the potential to be a really fun title but 90% of Yano’s matches were weird and you add that Yano wrestles one type of match. I like Yano but there are only so many matches I can watch where they start with him messing with the turnbuckle before I just skip the damn thing. It feels like the KPOW is in the NEVER title rebuilding phase with Shingo and I hope Taichi builds on what Shingo has done with it.

  5. as much as I liked the trophy, I’m glad they replaced it with a belt. that poor thing went though hell and back.

  6. I really do like that new belt i’m a sucker for eagles and colorful belts

  7. The only dud in Shingo’s reign was that weird grappling match against Great-o-Khan, all the rest were classics, and the last one probably the best of them all. Shingo made the belt feel like a “who’s the toughest” competition.

I’m really looking forward to Taichi’s reign as well.

  8. Taichi may never be world champion.

But he can say he was King of Pro Wrestling (provisionally).

  9. I was looking at this pic while groggy as fuck and for a split second I wondered “When did Kobashi come back and win the KOPW?”

  10. the title strapped look horrible, i hope they would change the title strapped to leather
