good day, just want to ask a question about fishing here in japan, im currently here in miyagi japan for work and since im planning to start learning fishing but i am worried if i need some license or not?
all my searches in the net makes me cofused more.
some say no need to acquire permits for freshwater like river and lakes, but some sites says i need permit. especially im a foreigner and i dont qant ot get in trouble.
so i will try if it will work here if any of you have any information rwgarding about rhe permits for fishing, thank you.

As far as I know no license is required for saltwater fishing in Japan. A license may be required for freshwater, particularly in lakes and rivers with trout, salmon etc. but it depends on the area as its a local issue. I would contact the city hall in the area where you want to fish and they should be able to sort you out. Tight lines!
