Are there any websites or threads that keep track of cell phone / provider sales?

Almost 2.5 years ago, Rakuten had a crazy deal where if you signed up you got a year of free mobile and had a choice of different phones for good prices. It was Rakuten Un-limit. At the time we got a rakuten mini for our daughter for 1 yen, and my wife and I got Samsung Galaxy s10’s for around 50k yen each. Evryones first year was free.

My wife and I would like to upgrade our phones now and are looking for slightly newer flagship phones like the Galaxy series. Does anyone know if there are good deals out now or a website that tracks stuff like that? We dont want to be locked into a contract we cant get out of for more than a year if possible.

  1. You should be able to buy unlocked phones somewhere and use a provider such as LINE Mobile or Ahamo (or whatever the Docomo-associated one is). We do this in our family and share two SIM cards between three phones. (Our child doesn’t have a personal phone but does have one of our old handsets for taking photographs and listening to music. If the youngster is going on a long trip alone, I’ll take the SIM card out of my phone and put it in his handset so we can track his whereabouts via Google Maps. When he comes home, I put the card back in my phone.)

  2. For smart-phone MNP surfing I’d recommend [kakuyasu-sim.jp/](https://kakuyasu-sim.jp/)
Right now, Ymobile gives you a Reno7A for 4900 yen, and they even give you 10.000 yen in paypay cash for free. You can cancel after a month (not so fast, just MNP the number to Ijimo or OCN to get another phone, and do that until you get tired of it).
