Help identify


Is this kuromutsu? I’m unsure because it has chive.

  1. Looks like albacore or yellowtail

    Edit: that’d be shiro maguro (white tuna) or hamachi in Japanese.

    Edit2: I did a Google of what you said, kuromutsu, and it looks a lot like what you posted. It’s a type of Blue fish which is uncommon in the US but more often found in Japan. You may have heard him correctly.

  2. Maybe a weird piece of wild hamachi cut from the tail but more likely that is albacore

  3. Don’t hold it too long you’ll heat up the fish and the sushi chef might kinda judge you

  4. Too dark to be hamachi. More likely kampachi or much more likely shiro maguro (albacore)

  5. I’d guess yellowtail but couldn’t say for sure. The chef didn’t tell you when they handed it to you?

    I can respect that you were eating it by hand if that’s indeed what you were doing. 😉

  6. That is a human hand , prolly a white Caucasian in late 20s fo early 30s holding a piece of fish.
