I am interested in modern fairy tales and would like to ask for some recommendations. I know that the works of the authors such as Tawada Yōko (The Bridegroom Was a Dog) and Ogawa Yōko can be classified as fairy tales. I also know about the “Grim Boom” and the scary adaptations of European fairy tales. Are there some other contemporary/modern Japanese authors writing fairy tales for adults?
I would be really thankful for all the recommendations❤️

Maybe not what your looking for but, here’s an interesting podcast about Japanese myths, folktales, and folklore with a bit of horror thrown in. Enjoy. https://uncannyjapan.com
Have you read 10 nights?
I’m interested in reading the European fairy tales’ adaptations if you know where I can find them 🙂
