Hypothyroidism & asthma

I have hypothyroidism and normally take prescribed levothyroxine. I’ve just moved to Iwate and I’m just curious if anyone in this sub has Hypo or is knowledgeable about what medication might be prescribed for hypo.

I also have asthma and from what I’ve read inhalers are commonly prescribed, but again it’s more what brands are used? I have seretide (might be a different name in the US) for my preventer and salbutamol for my reliever.

  1. Not in Iwate but they prescribe levothyroxine, it’s the most common type of medication for hypothyroidism and in fact, I think you’ll only have problems if you can’t take in levo and need some alternatives, those don’t seem to be available in Japan.

I used to have hyperthyroidism, did radioactive iodine ablation and now have hypothyroidism.

  2. My regular inhaler is Budesonide and my emergency inhaler is Procaterol (I think it’s a Japanese brand).

  3. I have mild hypothyroidism and I’m on 50 micrograms levothyroxine a day. The usual brand name for it is チラージン. Every half year I get a blood test and based on my TSH T3 and T4 levels the dose is adjusted if required.

  4. They have lots of different inhaler brands here. I use Flovent and salbutamol and was able to get refills of both. My doctor showed me about 10 different kinds. She also spent about 10 minutes trying to talk me into changing my inhalers as she considered them obsolete.
