Hi! I just came across this blog: [The 50 most common Japanese idioms – Learn Japanese online (learnjapanesedaily.com)](https://learnjapanesedaily.com/the-50-most-common-japanese-idioms.html#%e6%b8%a1%e3%82%8b%e4%b8%96%e9%96%93%e3%81%ab%e9%ac%bc%e3%81%af%e3%81%aa%e3%81%84-wataru-seken-ni-oni-wa-nai-%e2%80%93-there-is-no-demon-in-the-world)
I didn’t know basically any of those idioms so just to be sure I would appreciate it if someone could confirm whether these are common idioms used by Japanese speakers!

1, 3, 10, and 24 are pretty common and I can vouch for.
No. 1 is part of the design for the Pokemon Meowth (also a maneki neko of course) and the move Pay Day in Japanese is a direct reference to it (https://m.bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Pay_Day_(move))
I’ve seen the other 3 in anime/manga so they should be colloquially understood.
I’ve personally seen 1, 2, 4, 5, 11, 15, 17, 18, 20, 22, 27, 29, 37, 38, 39, 46, 51 in various books/manga. Since that’s the case I’d imagine the rest are valid as well.
Hard to define what’s “common”, but I’ll just say that if a native speaker claims to not know the ones listed in the page – even just one – I’d consider that person as not too bright in terms of common sense vocabulary. Or have doubts about how they define native.
