Accommodation in Japan: Kyoto

Hotel, hostel or AirBnB? Gion, Kawaramachi or Arashiyama?

Which are the best districts for value? Which hotels in Kyoto have the best breakfast? Which places blend the modern and the historical side of the city?

Maybe you need to find a hotel with a best concierge service? Or the one that has re-launched day care? Which hostel has best social life?

And of course, which places you do not recommend.

This is the thread, where you should discuss all your recent Kyoto experiences or ask questions about upcoming trips.

  1. We were in Sotetsu Fresa Inn, near Gion/Gojo Staion. It is one stop away from Kyoto Station, 2 subway-Lines close by and we had short travelling times to many of the locations, we wanted to see.
Hotel staff is friedly, the place is clean and not so expensive.
