Throwaway for obvious reasons. I have been invited to an interview for a position in an MA department of a good Japanese university, and the interview is tomorrow! The biggest problem is the position is an open position. Thus they asked for supporting documents (class materials, papers, books, etc. by today). It was a sudden opening, so it is a rush hire, but I am overwhelmed as I have years and years of materials I could send. Any ideas to keep it short but impressive enough to get the position?

Definitely worth explaining that to them, and then sending whatever they say is most relevant. I’d guess any materials you used in classes of HS/Adults with 20+ students, but I dont know anything about the position you applied for.
I would just choose a few easy to explain documents… dont overthink it .. especially if they need someone in a rush

red flag. There is never a rush at university level unless someone really messed up. Definitely never a rush to hire, we always have a few extra part timers to move up. From there your published papers, experience and references should be all you need. If they are asking for demo lessons or lesson plans, it isn’t a real university teaching job. Sounds more like the anime college than a uni.
