  1. About the English title: isn’t the person female? And the “晩婚・晩産で生まれた子どもの苦悩” from the Japanese title refers to the parents being married late in life and having children late in life.

Kazumi was born when her parents were 43 and 38. It sounds like she’s been taking care of her parents since she’s been 20, when her father collapsed and became bedridden. Yet her siblings aren’t helping either? (“3つ上の姉は結婚し、すでに家を出ている。”)

Edit: it sounds like her older sister helps with financial aspects but doesn’t often come home. (“姉はほぼ帰ってこないが、金銭面ではお世話になっている”)

Since I cant reply to the other thread.
The Japanese age heirarchy and social expectations that come with it are still very much a thing despite having less relevance now than before. Easier to shrug off responsibility if you’re not an only child however.
