How might you mash up the words Tama and Midori?

Tamamidori, Tamidori, or Tamadori?
Tamagotchi Midori? Tamagotchidori?
What might these words imply to you?

Ive been learning japanese slowly over a couple years and am currently working on a re-design of the tamagotchi before applying to Bandai America.

The design is based around the color green, as it is trending as gender neutral toy color currently and is project to be popular in 2024. So I was considering a word play that mashed up Tamagotchi ( Egg-Watch ) with Midori ( Green ).

I want it to sound cute, but want to be sure im not stepping on any linguistic culture with the mash up. Any suggestions or cultural considerations I should be making in the mash up? Which one sounds the cutest to you?

  1. Not a native Japanese speaker, but you might also consider “grass/kusa”, “bamboo/take”, “pine/matsu”, “onion/negi” as possible combinations as well, as they’re often associated with their colors. Also, like in English, there are a bunch of ‘tones’ of colors that have names as listed [here](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Traditional_colors_of_Japan).

  2. tamadoori 玉通り – in accordance with the ball

make the game about making the roundest thing possible

    できるだけ丸くする

    #orb

  3. Nothing to add to your question sorry, I just wanted to say TIL that the origin of the name tamagotchi is たまご+ウオッチ

I thought it was 玉+ Go and a play on 友達 but maybe I’m just a dumbass lmao

  4. Tama and Midori made me think 玉虫 (tamamushi, green-iridescent jewel beetle). Tamamushi is the Japanese name for Celadon City in Pokemon.

  5. How about Tamaguritchi/Tamagritchi/Tamagri-tchi etc?

    “Guri/gri/gri-” for “green”

  6. I have a bad idea that will you land on a lawsuit but my brain says:

    “Greentama”
